How much do solar panels cost? How many would I need to power a 2000 sq/ft house?

June 20th, 2009

Where can I buy solar panels? Are you able to install them in town or do you need a special permit to put them on your roof? With energy prices going back up, I've got to do something now. I'm sick of the power company taking an ever increasing chunk of my income.

There's two main approaches, do it yourself solar panels and professional installation of solar panels.

To go 100% solar in a 2000 sq/ft house with a professional install will cost about $50,000. If you have the money, go for it. But most people don't. I'm talking 99% of the people out there. So here's a cheaper option: do it yourself solar panels.

The do it yourself approach is a piece-meal approach. You build one solar panel, then take something in your home off the power grid and put it on this solar panel and battery bank. Over time you build more and more solar panels, a larger battery bank, and you take more and more appliances in your home off the power grid.

For example, you could build 1 solar panel system for about $300 that will take your computer, monitor, tower, modem, and speakers off the power grid.

A couple months later or when you have the money, you take something else off the power grid.

Use this solar power calculator to calculate the number of solar panels you will need to build:

Homemade wind generator questions?

June 4th, 2009

I have some things I was wondering about making a homemade wind generator. I pulled an alternator out of Ford Taurus. I was thinking about overhauling it to be a more efficient generator. If I overhaul it and it works, can I buy a inverter and pump the AC voltage into my electric meter? It will not produce enough power for my needs but if I do this would it not lower my electric bill at least a little bit as I would be selling back some power? Also do you need to have a special electric meter installed to do something like this?

Well, you do need permission from your power company, and they will install a special power meter and a special inverter, and ask for a lot of money upfront. Now in California, PG&E started installing these special electric meters that can be read with a wireless connection for free. I don't know about your state though.

But to answer your question about making a homemade wind generator, yes, it is possible. Also, the power company doesn't pay you, they reduce your power bill. Worse, the don't reduce your power bill at the market rate for electricity. They give you a lot less of a credit than what they buy electricity from other sources. I don't think it's fair but it's the way they do it right now.

Where can I learn to install solar panels and possibly start my own business?

October 17th, 2008

Where can I learn how to install solar panels and could I start my own business installing them? I live in Texas and am close to Dallas. Is there a school or something that I could attend?

I have made quite a bit of money using this eductional guide: http://www.mysolarsecret.com/

Once I did my own solar panels, a friend asked me how much it costs and when I told him a few hundred dollars, he asked if I could build him one. I charged him $250 for my labor plus another $350 for parts. It took me 1 day to build his solar panel. $250 a day is not bad ;)

Well word of mouth took off and he told someone else and on and on. There is a huge demand for solar panels out there that is not being met because professional solar companies charge outrageous prices to install them. It's criminal that a solar power company would charge you so much that it took 5 - 15 years just to break even on your investment. What a scam. Someone should be able to break even on their investment in just a few months. So using this guide that shows you how to make solar panels for very little money, you can charge a good price for your labor and still be giving your customer a great deal.

Make CHEAP SOLAR Panels Within A Few Hours and Save Money

September 15th, 2008

http://www.mysolarsecret.com

The fact is that most people don't know about the benefits of generating renewable energy themselves. They also don't know how easy it is to do this.

They just pay $1,000s a year in electricity without having a clue that there is a much better way...

There are many solutions to produce renewable energy.

However, most of the products are not designed to produce the electricity needed for home supply. They cost fortunes and are only usable in the corporate world.

Some companies have developed products for generating home wind power or solar power, but they cost $1,000s for only one product. And this doesn't even include installation.

Luckily this is where we come in. The build your own solar panel guide will teach you everything you need to have your own solar or wind power system for $200 or even less.

I've made countless tests to make sure that these are the most effective methods for producing heaps of energy.

The plans are easy to follow. Anyone can understand and use them. (Even a 15-year old kid!).
