Electric Car Conversion
November 11th, 2008
Reverend Gadget of Left Coast Electric converts a Triumph Spitfire to a battery electric car
We are going to yank this internal combustion engine out and we are going to turn it into a pure electric car.
One of the great things is to be out here with all these other vehicles and other companies that are doing the same thing. I think it is really important to get visibility and acceptance. A lot of people think that electric cars are slow. This video shows a race between an electric car and a 400hp corvette. The electric car blows away the corvette. You have to see the video to believe it.
I hate internal combustion engines, you have all this fluid and oil, toxic everything.
The video goes on to show these guys do a total electric car conversion.

Nicola Tesla’s car was built with a battery switching gizmo that actually made the batteries self charging. You can Google “Tesla Switch” to check it out for yourself.

I once tried to build an electric car. I live in Oregon. The thing totally failed because of the cold which would not allow the batteries to get a decent charge. The defrosters did not work very well either. Electric cars work fine in a warm climate, but do not work very well in a cold one.

Nice site, great information. I had a lovely 2005 Toyota Prius. I wanted to add bigger batteries to get more MPG but didn’t have the money. An all electric car would be sweet!
